How to generate Thermal Electric Power?
Fuel such as coal, oil, and liquefied natural gas (LNG) are burned in a boiler to create high-temperature, high-pressure steam that drives the turbines in order to generate electricity. This type of power can be generated in large quantities and regulated to meet energy demands.

Types of thermal power

Steam power generation High-temperature, high-pressure steam generated in a boiler drives the turbines in order to generate electricity. This type accounts for a great share of thermal power generation in Japan as for capacity and actual results.

Internal combustion An internal combustion engine, like a diesel engine, is used to run the generator. Commonly used to generate small amounts of power in isolated islands, etc.

Gas turbine Kerosene, diesel, and other flammable gases are used to drive the generator. Commonly used to meet peak-time energy demands.

Combined cycle This is a new type of thermal power that combines steam and gas turbines. It offers a high rate of heat efficiency and can be easily engaged and disengaged in a short period of time, making it possible to copy with changing power demands.
